Traditional hot (picante) smoked Paprika from the La Vera region of Spain. Pimentón de La Vera has been granted PDO status (Protected origin).
Hot Spanish Pimenton peppers are dried slowly over an oak wood fire and then finely stoneground at ambient temperature, to keep all the natural flavours intact. This aromatic paprika adds an elegant sweet, smoky flavour and warmth to literally thousands of dishes. Its vivid, brilliant red also lends a fantastic dash of colour.
It is incredibly useful too; it engages so well with many different cuisines including Spanish, Mexican, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean. It is lovely added to all kinds of meat and fish. Try it as a barbecue rub or integral part of a marinade.
Paprika will impart undertones of its charming flavours to soups, stews and sauces. It is delicious used with the simplest of ingredients: eggs, potatoes, melted cheese, beans, chickpeas, green vegetables, just use your imagination!
