Sugo alla Puttanesca or Puttanesca sauce is one of the classic and most popular Southern Italian pasta sauces. It became popular in the 60’s and there are a number of different recipes for it. Ours, by Montebello, is completely produced from quality organically farmed ingredients.
The blend of sweet ripe Italian tomatoes, capers and black olives with the addition of extravirgin olive oil, black pepper and garlic produce a super-tasty and superfast sauce which has a real satisfying home-cooked appeal to it.
Spaghetti is the classic pasta for Puttanesca but also goes well with Bucatini or Linguine. We’ve also craftily used this sauce as a pizza topping with some mozzarella – lovely!
