There is a huge difference between pesto Genovese you can find in the shops and delis and it is all down to the ingredients used. Always check the label.
Real pesto genovese is based on fresh Ligurian PDO basil which is renowned for its small leaves and lovely, distinctive aroma. It should then be blended with Extra virgin olive oil, pine nuts, pecorino and Parmigiano Reggiano PDO. Most pestos use cheaper substitutes, but Granoro refuses to compromise on quality.
The ingredients are processed slowly and carefully at low temperatures to capture all their freshness and flavour. The result is a wonderfully aromatic and full flavoured pesto which exhalts the fresh basil and is perfect for pasta dishes (trofie, linguine or spaghetti are the classics), potato salads, risotto and with boiled meats.
