In Italy the use of flavoured oils is a relatively new phenomena, however there is one combination you will find in every restaurant and most households the length and breadth of the country: Olio al Peperoncino – red chilli oil.
In our version, the olive oil is from a small local frantoio (olive mill) in Umbria and the chilli is simply left to rest in the oil and infuse all its natural flavours and aroma. You can see it in the bottle.
It’s so versatile and adds a light, fresh olive oil flavour with the nice chilli kick to sauces, risotto, pizza, bruschetta, potatoes, sandwiches, beans… anything you want. Try it with aged cheeses! It’s also a combination of 2 of the Med’s healthiest ingredients: amongst many beneficial properties, it is full of vitamins, posseses antiaging properties, helps digestion and blood circulation.
