These beautifully handwrapped Colomba cakes are quite simply the best we’ve ever tasted (and we’ve tried a lot!). They all enjoy an extraordinary fragrance, lightness and a moist texture you can only experience with cakes literally fresh from the oven.

They are made by the Fiasconaro brothers in Sicily, for generations a family owned artisan bakery. The 3 brothers who run the bakery now still rigorously uphold the local artisan traditions of their father and grandfather. This is slowfood at its best – each cake taking nearly 4 days to bake!

Such quality is almost matched by its stunning and elegant presentation. It really makes a memorable gift for any occasion.

Ingredients

Soft wheat flour, almonds icing (12%) (fresh egg white, sugar, rice flour, starch modified, hazelnut paste, flavourings), butter, sugar, fresh eggs, candied apricots (9%) (apricot, glucose-fructose syrup, sucrose, concentrated lemon juice), “Cioccolato di modica PGI” (8%) ( cocoa paste, sugar. cocoa solids: 50% minimum), fresh egg yolk, natural yeast (wheat flour, water, yeast), granulated sugar (3%), hazelnut paste, Sicilian honey, invert sugar syrup, hazelnut foliage (2%), apricots granulate (1%) (fruit (apricots puree (30%), apple puree), sugar, fructose syrup, rice flour, cocoa butter, gelling agent: pectin, acid: citric acid, natural flavouring), emulsifier: mono-and diglycerides of fatty acids, cocoa butter, “Marsala PDO” wine, skimmed milk powder, salt, natural  vanilla flavouring.

May contain traces of other nuts, soya, lupin and mustard. Store in a cool, dry place.
